Sudoku
Overview
Started in late 2018 and realesed a month and a half later, that's one of the quickest projects I completed. I took care of the UI, UX, and laid the foundations of the project in order to achieve the maximum results in the shortest time. My team was composed of three members, for design, code and music. I also managed the marketing campaigns, creating dozens of assets in order to make this game stand out.
Objective
As a UI, UX and game designer I had to find new and exciting ways to enhance a product like Sudoku and make it, under many aspects, better than other competing ones. Considering the huge amount of already existing ones in virtualy every store and platform, this was no easy task. We tried endless kinds of Sudoku to outline what to remove, add and fix. At the end we were very pleased with the results and people loved it!
Process
Process Step 1: Brainstorming & Product Set Up
Considering the deadline for this project was very strict, this step design process step had to be quick, precise and effective. We couldn't take 1 or 2 weeks as we usually do for year long projects. So we extensively tested dozens of great Sudoku games and started collecting mechanics and images from platforms we thought could be resourceful to begin building our product the way we intended.
Process Step 2: Layout & Style Search
In this step of the process I started to put together the ideas I liked the most, discarding what I thought wasn't clear enough and adding a few details to the plate. That's where the magic happened and when we realised we would have hit the deadline with no delays whatsoever, without having to compromise on the quality of the product.
Process Step 3: Production
By the time I completed the second step of this design process, the programmer had the main structure already there to actually test the major features on the mobile platforms the game was supposed to come out for, the audio designer was almost done with the sounds and I was parallely working on the production of all the in game assets and some markerting material objects, too.
